The half ounce piece was first struck in 1986 and provided a happy medium between the size of the one ounce piece and the affordability of the two smaller fractional issues at the time. Like previous editions in the series, this one bears the iconic symbol of Canada, bringing Canadian pride and tradition to collectors around the world. The coin bears radial lines that make it almost impossible to counterfeit. This piece was struck from. 9999 fine gold and remains in a mint sealed plastic square from the Canadian Mint. It will arrive in GEM Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Featuring the Historic Maple Leaf Design. The coin's obverse features Susanna Blunt's right-side portrait of Canadian head of state Queen Elizabeth II.
