High quality coin -- fresh from mint. This year marks the 5th version of the peace dollar. The coin is dated on the obverse. The obverse has the Susanna Blunt effigy. The coin is dated 2024 on the reverse.

Although it has the 2023 date on the obverse, the coin is ALSO double dated on the obverse with the special "Transition obverse". Additionally, the four pearls (dots) in the date symbolize her 70 reign and the 4 different effigies used on our coins in that time.

The coin weighs 31.39 grams and has a diameter of 36.15 mm. It is minted in pure silver and with ultra high relief. There is selective yellow gold plating on both the reverse and obverse as well as the rim. It comes in a leather clamshell case surrounded by a black cardboard box.

Mintage is limited to 7,000 and also included is a uniquely numbered certificate of authenticity. Each Peace Dollar is a powerful representation of Canada's ongoing dedication to universal human rights and world peace. Before becoming Prime Minister of Canada, Lester B. Pearson was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1957 for organizing the first UN peacekeeping force. In the decades since, UN peacekeepers have helped de-escalate conflicts and save lives throughout the world.

The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. A first for Canada's Peace Dollar. For the first time, the UHR portrait on the reverse of your Peace Dollar has been plated. This is no small feat, given the complexities and height of the sculpt, but our engineers succeeded in establishing a process for a reliably beautiful execution.

Your Peace Dollar's reverse features selective yellow gold plating and a new field pattern behind the allegorical image of peace designed by retired RCM Senior Engraver Susan Taylor. Struck in Ultra High Relief (UHR), Lady Peace is depicted in profile with her hair crowned in a wreath of olive branches and maple leaves, which inspired the field pattern.

She is flanked by her name "PAX" (the Latin word for "Peace") and the year "2024", while Canada's national motto, "A MARI USQUE AD MARE" ("From sea to sea") appears overhead. The obverse features selective yellow gold plating and the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

The obverse also bears a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign. The allegory's crown of maple leaves and olive branches is a symbolic representation of the core Canadian values of peace, order and good government. The wreath headpiece also inspired the new field pattern, which consists of a stylized maple leaf with ribbon.
